A Roman general, a radio director, a Brecht groupie, an intelligent young author and a dictatorial heiress; all their lives were turned upside down by the man, coward, refugee and author of the century – Bertolt Brecht.
The political comedy “RADIO LUKULLUS” is a world premier, commissioned by Freilichtspeile Chur FRECH. It resurrects figures from the historical Brecht episode that took place in Switzerland in 1940. The plot is based on the adventurous story of the radio play “Das Verhör des Lukullus”, written by Bertold Brecht and Margarete Steffin, realised in 1940 on the Swiss national television station Beromünster – circumventing strict censorship regulations.
The Ensemble brings together professional actors and community players, and aims to be inspired by and engage with Chur’s history, present and people.
